After a week’s recess in auction sales, the 6th sale of the 2026/27 wool selling season was held today, with an offering of 7 911 bales.
The majority of the offering consisted of long length wools, whilst 66% of the offering tested 20 micron and finer. Sustainably certified wools comprised 55,6% of the merino wools on offer.
The market followed the general softer trend in the Australian market , with the all-merino indicator declining by 5,2% to close on R246,16 p/kg and the certified indicator decreasing by 5,0% to close on R251,10 p/kg. If the market is compared to the corresponding sale of the 2025/26 season, the all-merino indicator was still at very good levels.
A lower overall sales clearance of 87% was achieved at the lower price levels achieved today.
A highest price of R379,87 p/kg (clean) ( R280,00 p/kg greasy) was paid for a single bale lot of 15-micron merino wool.
The Australian market retracted this week and closed down by 1,4% (AU$) from their previous sale held on Wednesday, 23 September, with a higher passed in rate due to seller resistance.
The major buyers on today’s sale were BKB Pinnacle Fibres (1 348), Stucken & Co (1 214), Tianyu SA (1 081) and Fibreflow Trading (963).
The next sale will take place on 7 October 2026, where approximately 7 613 bales will be on offer.
