Wool Sales Catalogue 09/25

The 9th sale of the 2025/26 wool selling season took place this week, with an offering of 9 386 bales.

The majority of the offering consisted of fine micron, long length wools and sustainably certified wools comprised 58,3% of the merino wools on offer.

The SA rand traded stronger against the US$ on the first day of the auction and weaker later in trade on the second day.

The market continued to experience downward pressure this week, although individual good quality, certified clips performed better than the market average, with a good overall sales clearance of 95,1%.

The all-merino indicator decreased by 2,9% to close on R195,89 p/kg, whilst the certified indicator shed 1,9%, to close on R202,34 p/kg.

A highest price of R314,29 p/kg was paid for a single-bale lot of 16,5-micron merino fleece wool. 

The Australian market continued on a downward trend this week, closing down by 2% (AU$) from their previous sale held on Wednesday,15 October.

The major buyers on this week's sale were G Modiano SA (2 048), Standard Wool SA (1 781), BKB Pinnacle Fibres (1,499) and  Stucken & Co (1 221).

The next sale will be held on 29 October 2025 when approximately 5 345 bales will be on offer.
