The last sale of the 2025/26 wool selling season was held today, with 6 043 bales on offer.

Long length wools comprised just under half of the offering, with 64% of the offering testing 20 micron and finer. Sustainably certified wools comprised 63,9% of the merino wools on offer.

The season closed on a positive note, following the upward trend in the Australian market and further supported by a weaker ZAR against the US$. An excellent overall sales clearance of 97,09% was achieved.

The all-merino indicator increased by 0,2% to close on R270,86 p/kg and the certified indicator closed 0,4% higher on R277,95 p/kg.

A highest price of R355,35 p/kg (clean) (R263,10 p/kg greasy) was achieved for a 2- bale lot of 16,2-micron merino wool.

The Australian market closed up 0,5% (AU$) today, compared to their previous sale held on Wednesday, 3 June.

The major buyers on today’s sale were G Modiano SA (1 453), Standard Wool SA (1 073), Tianyu SA (999) and BKB Pinnacle Fibres (873).

The first sale of the 2026/27 wool season will be held on 19 August 2026.
