The 2025/26 wool selling season continued today, with the 8th sale of the season taking place.
A total of 6 067 bales were on offer, with 59% of the offering consisting of long length wools and sustainably certified wools comprising 55,5% of the merino wools on offer.
The market followed the downward trend in the Australian market this week, which was characterized by high passed-in percentages.
The all-merino indicator closed down by 3,8% to close on R201,64 p/kg, with the certified indicator declining by 3,9% to close on R206,33 p/kg. A lower overall sales clearance of 89,7% was achieved.
A highest price of R305,32 p/kg (clean) was paid for a 4-bale lot of 16,2-micron merino fleece wool.
The Australian market shed 4%(AU$) this week, compared to the previous sale held on Thursday, 9 October.
The major buyers on today’s sale were Tianyu SA (1,158), G Modiano SA (1,155), Standard Wool SA (1,147) and Stucken & Co (730).
The next sale will be held on 22 October 2025 when approximately 9 054 bales will be on offer.
